Born in Rockford, Illinois U.S.A. in 1980 – Virgil Abloh is an artist, architect, and fashion designer.
After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he completed a Master’s degree in Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
It was here at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he was introduced to a curriculum, originally established by Mies van der Rohe. A curriculum which was formed from the notions of Bauhaus, that enabled Virgil Abloh to learn how to converge the fields of arts, craft, and design.
Those notions merged with contemporary culture make up his inter-disciplinary practice today; stemming from his last 15 years, which is summarized below.

MAKING THE ORDINARY EXTRAORDINARY “OFFICE SUPPLIES” C/O VIRGIL ABLOH & JACOB & CO.

The new “Office Supplies” collection brings together the visionary talents of Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co., and Virgil Abloh.
Deciding to reimagine the paperclip highlights the subtle significance of an everyday item and transforms it into a contemporary piece of fine jewelry.
A simple yet modern representation of nostalgia, the paperclip is reminiscent of youthful creations when paperclips became chains, bracelets, and more. Through the “Office Supplies” collection, Mr. Arabo and Mr. Abloh transform simplicity into luxury by reinterpreting a universal past time through high craftsmanship and exceptional materials such as white and yellow diamonds.

The collection consists of money clips, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces, in 18k yellow, white, or rose gold. Each paperclip is engraved with “Office Supplies” to highlight the inspiration behind the collection.

“With jewelry design, not only is technical sophistication important, but also lineage. That’s the foundation for pieces with meaning,” said Virgil Abloh. “Jacob for me has always been innovative, particularly in the notions of merging design sophistication and the pop-culture emanating from the streets. That lineage is the foundation for these new ideas I have designed within fine-jewelry under the moniker of “Office Supplies,” crafted by Jacob & Co.”

Each piece within the “Office Supplies” collection is made-to-order, with a six- to eight-week lead time. Clients can email: officesupplies@canary—yellow.com to request an order form. Jacob Arabo and Virgil Abloh will personally review and approve every order submitted.
“We are so excited about this project,” says Jacob Arabo. “We have been friends for a long time and working together just felt so right. His inventive mind, his incredible sense of design and fashion, and his energy have been a real revelation. It is a very enjoyable experience and I am looking forward to having great success together.”
Jacob & Co. and Mr. Abloh have deserved reputations for revolutionizing their respective fields. Reinventing an ordinary object like a paperclip was a unique twist from Mr. Abloh.
